Lengua (tongue) tacos at Tacolandia, Jackson Heights

I found myself on the run for just a little something to tide me over for a little while so I ran by TacoLandia on Roosevelt/77th for a single taco before getting on the subway. I haven't been by here for a while since I've always thought of them in the "just alright" range and there are better taco options (albeit sit-down places) nearby, except I've always thought the lengua tacos were pretty decent, especially if it's been simmering in the red sauce for a while. I took a look at the container and it looked good and stew-ish. The taco I got there this weekend was the best version I've ever had there. The sauce was a deep red chile stew and quite flavorful, but not really all that spicy. And the tongue meat was very tender. For a little more heat, you can throw a little more of their self-serve salsa on with some onion/cilantro mix. These guys are also very generous with their meats, so if you're needing a quick/cheap/filling fix in the area, check it out.
