There is a treasure on West Avenue in Jenkintown.

For a long time, I haven't known of any destination places in Jenkintown or Glenside. Good, pleasant, but not outstanding. Well, this is it.

We had a delicious and delightful dinner here this weekend.
And it is French, a cuisine rare around these parts.

Four of us enjoyed - and raved - over appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
My foie gras was as good a preparation as any I have had. The crabmeat and avocado salad was wonderful, and the scallop appetizer was highly praised.

My husband's duck breast entree was proclaimed the best ever - he misses the one at Nan. The St. Peters fish was crispy outside, juicy within (said my daughter) and my chicken breast (which I rarely order) was excellent. I loved the assortment of grilled vegs that accompanied my entree along with gnocchi.

If you go, don't skip dessert. Four choices were offered. My daughter and I shared the butterscotch pot-de-creme, made with real Scotch - wow! Our son-in-law had the bittersweet chocolate pot-de-creme, which he loved. What I long for next time is the homemade apple pie, topped with ice cream, that my husband devoured. A crispy cinnamon topping and firm fruit inside. What can be better than a great pie crust?

Service was excellent. Ambience: small and attractive.
