What a coincidence - on consecutive nights finding items in Toronto that I had only had before in Spain (and on the same night in the same restaurant). Yesterday I posted on Jamon Iberico. And last night I tried Lambs Brains & Sweetbreads.
If you like sweetbreads you'll LOVE the lamb version. The flavour adds an extra dimension to the veal version usually available. Served with some smoky bacon, crisp green beans, corn kernels. And the brains were prepared in Panko crumbs to give 2-bite size 'fritters'. You can order them both together, or just the sweetbreads. A whole plate of the brains would be too rich.
These are only available 'while supply lasts' - this is the only time of the year that both of these are available due to the large numbers of lambs ordered for Greek Orthodox Easter, a week ago (at other times it's not worth separating them out so they end up in pet food).
I found them both at Fat Cat Bistro on Eglinton - and they're not on the regular menu (you have to ask for them).
