I'm considering taking a professional cooking series locally in Los Angeles. I have NO aspirations of becoming a restaurant chef or caterer, but I LOVE to cook and want to learn as much as I can about it.
A couple local schools I've heard of include New School of Cooking in Culver City and Epicurean School of Cooking on Melrose.
Are there others with professional training programs that I should consider? What's the name of the new one by the Arclight?
I'm looking for an experience that will give me a good degree of "classic" training, but that also includes training in a variety of ethnic cuisines. Something I can do on the weekends, since I work full-time.
Price is not a huge concern, but I'm looking for something in the range of a few thousand or less (I'm not in the position to attend CIA for recreational purposes anytime soon!)
