AQUA GRILL

I will say from the start, not being much of a fish fan (I like shellfish much more than fish itself) and being a snob for Gulf Coast Seafood, I am not the best person to review a seafood restaurant. But I wanted to try a New York Seafood place. (Having once been to the Red Eye Grill once, and enjoyed it quite a bit, I thought I would try another seafood place.) I went to Aqua Grill. It was fine, but it did not compare to the other three places I tried. The service was a little, well, cold. No one was particularly rude, but no one seemed that interested in making sure I was taken care of at all. I don't need someone fawning over me in any way. But, as opposed to say Union Square and Gramercy Tavern, no one seemed to really care if I was having a good experience. I can't imagine anyone at Aqua Grill going out of their way for me the way people did at Union Square or Gramercy Tavern. I started with steamed clams - I have never had fresh clams, served in a bucket, so I thought it would be fun to try. I have nothing to which to compare them, but for my taste, they were good and the accompanying garlic butter sauce was very tasty. For my entree I had soft shelled crabs done up in an orange sauce. It was a good dish, nothing too special, which I guess would be my general take on the restaurant. Again, I admit a fairer review might be found from a true fish lover.
