Went to L2 for a dinner on Friday. The hostess (good-naturedly) razzed us for being late on our reservation and we seated shortly in a nice corner. The dining room looks great- high painted tin ceiling, wonderful lighting, distressed brick, and a red velvet bench running along the room's walls.
We ordered a bottle of Di Majo Norante Sangiovese to start, which was excellent. Medium-bodied, kind of spicy, with a clean finish. For appetizers, we had the calamari and fried tomatoes with mozzarella. Both were sub-par. The calamari was overcooked and the tomatoes lacked flavor altogether. Entrees included swordfish w/ guacamole and light salsa and pan-seared duck breast w/ a peppercorn sauce. These (both specials) were phenomenal. Both cooked perfectly, very tender, and all-around had a really wonderful taste. The wine complemented both very well. No dessert, just some spiked coffee...
All in all, one of the better meals I've had in some time. Very friendly staff, nice atmosphere...
