This stall serves probably the most authentic-tasting Penang-style Hokkien prawn noodles I'd tasted in KL thus far. Not anywhere near the standards one gets in Penang, but good by KL standards.
Another must-not-miss at this very popular kopitiam is, of course, the Sarawak Kolo Mee, an East Malaysian Hakka variation of the Cantonese "kon lou mein" sans the wanton dumplings. The Sarawak version uses pork lard to flavour the crinkly egg-wheat noodles, but no soysauce as in Cantonese wanton noodles. It's topped with thinly-slivered "char-siu" (BBQ pork) and (in typical Hakka style) minced pork. However, it's served with a little bowl of soup with fish-balls, betraying some Teochew influence. I guess this is a unique KL-style take on an iconic Sarawak noodle dish.
