Koraku Ramen in Little Tokyo - report

So great! On Eric Archer's previous rec (sorry, Eric, your new screen name doesn't stay in my head, I'm lame), tried Koraku Ramen on this windy but beautiful day. Ordered their house special Koraku Ramen, #1 on the menu! Outstanding! It has pork, napa cabbage, tiny shrimp, some squid, mushrooms, fish cake and ramen, and is all bound by a bit of egg - like the best fried rice you ever had, but in soup form. The bowl was chocked full of all the goodies. I actually had to dig to find the noodles, and there were a ton of noodles under everything. Tasty, and spicy but not chile hot, exactly (as opposed to the moderately hot ramen at Orochon that I enjoy in a different way). The shrimp were delectable. I even enjoyed the squid, which I usually find too chewy. Noodles were a littlest bit chewy, in a good way. Kind of al dente. I could only finish half and will have the rest for din-din. I'm usually a huge noodle eater, never leaving any behind, so this is testimony to how much great stuff there was in the bowl.

Service was extremely friendly. There is a counter with maybe 15 seats, and about 10 or so sit down tables. Not crowded at 1:45. Well kept up and clean, and has an A rating.

Total with fantastic hot tea, tax and tip was $10.50. Cash only.

The posted hours on the website below show that it is open until 3 am Monday - Saturday. Can this be true? Amazing.

Bonus is that it is very convenient to the A Dash. Going to Little Tokyo, it drops you on First at San Pedro; coming back, it stops right at Second and San Pedro.

Great stuff. I highly reccomend it!
