King Palace, a small place at 2350 N. University near Sunset Strip in Sunrise (west-central Broward) caught my eye, since its neon signs tout Chinese BBQ, crispy duck and steamed fish. Sure enough, it's Hong Kong style. The menu is tamer than Hong Kong City's, with much less seafood--at least on the English and takeout menus--but they do have a variety of roast meats, noodle soups, things like beef stew and beef with tomato over rice as lunch plates, and other HK noodle-shop basics, along with salt-baked squid, various things in XO sauce, scallops with preserved vegetables and the like. They also have the usual gringo Chinese dishes, more so than the HK places on 441.
All I had was a plate of roast duck and roast pork over rice. On that basis it wasn't very promising at all. The pork was your basic chow-mein joint roast pork and didn't taste like it was made on the premises. The duck was better, but nothing great. I'm not sure I'll be back to see if more effort goes into the stuff the kitchen really puts out. Their prices are pretty high for what it is, too. Anyone been there for dinner?
Also note: Nido, the Korean/Japanese place in the same strip, is closed but has a new owner and may reopen soon.
