Thanks for everyone's help so far, and I have another question.
What local delicacies should I try down in Islamorada/ Key Largo that I can't get anywhere else at this level of quality? For example, take New York City. I can tell you where to go to get the best pizza, the best knishes, etc. Now, you can find pizza and knishes in other parts of the country, but wherever you find them, they'll never compare to when it's done right in New York.
So, are the conch fritters this far up the Keys really good, and if so, who makes 'em best? Same goes for Key Lime pie, and any other dishes you Florida hounds think are uniquely "Keysian".
Also, I've heard that there is a special type of crab that is relatively famous down there. If I haven't been misled, what is this crab, and where should I go to get the best?
