We had dinner at Kate & Ally’s Bistro last night and absolutely loved it. It’s relatively small (12 tables) with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The décor is quietly elegant with great attention to detail.
Our server opened our wine and brought us a complimentary piece of bruschetta…crunchy bread, tomatoes and the perfect amount of garlic. It was a nice touch.
Our server also brought us a basket of hot, house-made garlic focaccia strips accompanied by a crock of garlic butter…absolutely stellar. We polished it off and asked for another basket, which was brought immediately.
Our appetizers consisted of the spring roll of the day (scallop) which was light, crunchy and presented on a plate painted with hoisin sauce. We also chose clams in a garlic, white wine and beer broth…they were tender and perfectly cooked and the broth was perfect for sopping up with that delicious garlic bread.
We both ordered the Caesar salad and were pleasantly surprised that it was REAL Caesar salad…no bottled dressing here….wonderful.
My SO had veal marsala over angel hair pasta…the sauce was light yet rich-tasting and the veal medallions were fork tender. I had the broiled scallops with an ancho chile sauce spiked with honey and cilantro…an odd-sounding combination, but it really worked.
We were too full for dessert…maybe next time. :-)
Service is excellent…accommodating and attentive without being intrusive, and the servers have expert knowledge of the menu.
This restaurant is a little gem....we’re looking forward to a return visit.
