Kaskaval - Midtown West

Was wondering if anyone else has been to Kashkaval on 9th Ave. at 56th St. It's a cheese and appetizer shop that has opened a small cafe in the back. We shared an appetizer plate of hummus, red pepper spread, olive tapenade and eggplant dip. Served with pita triangles. Then it was time for fondue on a cool night. We picked Cheddar and Ale of the four listed. It comes served with bread cubes but for a few bucks more you can get a veggie plate to dip. The fondue was very good and actually too much for the two of us to finish although I did peel the burned cheese crust off the bottom of the pot. With a bottle of Merlot, the bill was only $62. Service was decent... It's a relaxed mood kind of place and the music, a nice mix of blues, was very good. There are probably less than ten tables, although ther is a large wooden table in back that probably seats eight. Went there on a lark and it turned out to be a very nice surprise. I'll definitely go back again.
