Someone was asking me about kamameshi places in LA and my first response was, "What is kamameshi?" Her reply is that:
"Simply put, the best Japanese dish in the world that seems to not have made it over to the US yet.
I used to eat it all the time while living in Tokyo. Sushi¹s great, so is tempura, and everything else, but I¹ve yet to find really good kamameshi or yakitori.
It¹s cooked and served in a small pot that¹s sort of like a really dainty and beautiful rice cooker. It was really popular, we couldn¹t get enough of
it. It¹s rice with all sorts of things mixed in, carrots, peas, in this sauce that¹s to die for. It¹s one of those things you have to try, I can¹t describe it to do it justice."
I guess she's been craving it for awhile now, so your help would be greatly appreciated.
