Josie Redux

Just wanted to say that we went to Josie in Santa Monica for my wife's birthday last night. We had another lovely and delicious dinner. We both chose the same starters as last month, wild mushroom sandwich for my wife and the heirloom tomato salad for me. My wife tried the veal chop, which I got some of, as it was a gigantic chop with mash potatos, beautiful thin asparagus and a medley of wild mushrooms and carmalized onions. I was full from a late lunch, (bad planning on my part), and so I tried two of the appetizers, quail and the ox tail ravioli with an ox tail bone on the plate with a small knife provided to dig out the marrow. Both were excellent. I tried a glass of a red bordeaux that was suggested by our waiter. It was terrific, which for $13 I would expect no less.

In any case since I posted about Josie less than a month ago I just want to say that if you are looking for a quiet, elegant, savory night out with perfect service you cannot do better than Josie.

Ps. We both had bloody mary's to start, and we both think that these are in the top 1% of all bloody m's we have ever had anywhere.

Pps. We also had a chance to meet and speak with Josie and her husband, Frank. Two more gracious, hospitable and hard working people would be hard to find.
