Johannes, Palm Springs

A few hounds who were visiting for sun and tennis watching met for dinner at Johannes on Indian in Palm Springs. Atmospheric room, well lit plus attentive service and really terrific food - potsticker and mussel appetizers followed by schnitzel, veal liver, spatzl, (can't remember the others) great desserts - creme brulet (the real thing) flourless choc cake and strudl (not the best). Hounds brought several bottles of red and Johannes happily set up three wine glasses for each person - great to be in a place where you can hear conversation. Parking good too. This is essentially Austrian cuisine although it is billed 'European' - they have a pretty extensive menu and lots of specials. I think Palm Springs is coming of age with places like this plus the restaurants at the Casinos including Rattlesnake at Fantasy Springs - tried by a fellow hound early this week with good report.
