Joe's Pub at the Public Theater..my report

Finally made it down to Joe's Pub saturday night to see Lea DiLaria sing jazz..man o man..she can really scat,I was very surprised. Anyway,I ordered an eggplant appetizer that was basically eggplant parm. with fresh mozzarella..it was ok. For the main entree I got tortellini stuffed with asparagus and a sage butter sauce..don't ever get this!! It was the most blandest thing I had in my life.I ate it because I was very hungry. For the life of me I could not taste any asparagus, all I tasted was peas.I tasted no sage, the sauce was runny and had no taste whatsoever!(it was $14.00) The waiter brought out my main entree before the appetizer so I am sure my dinner sat under the heat lamps for another 15 mins. before I was served it again. My friends had grilled chicken with a salad and they said it was very good. Another friend had a panini and he enjoyed that also. He wanted the softshell crab panini that was on the menu but the crab is long out of season and they did not take it off the menu. The only reason we ate here was to get a good table for the show. The space is very cool and besides the food I had a really nice time. You would think with a space like this they would improve the menu and get a better chef. Even I can cook better than that! The guy at a table next to me flipped out after tasting his dinner and demanded the waiter take it away immediately,he said it tasted like garbage,I never saw anyone go off like he did. I would go back here to see a show but don't think I would be eating here ever again unless the quality of the food improves. Be careful if you decided to go here.
