I'm trying to decide between lunch at Joel Robuchon Restaurant or L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon while in Tokyo this month. We've always wanted to dine at Robuchon restaurant just to see if it's worth the hype, but most of the locations are in cities we seldom visit.
We've made reservations at Joel Robuchon Restaurant but are having second thoughts now. It seems that the Restaurant has better reviews on CH and other sites, as well as the extra Michelin Star, but it's also more much expensive and seems to be more formal as well. We'll be packing very light on this trip and I'd really like to avoid having to bring more formal clothes just for the one meal, whereas L'Atelier seems more casual.
Any recommendations from Chowhounders? Is Joel Robuchon Restaurant worth the extra money and inconvenience, or does L'Atelier hold its own?
