Jeromes promotes itself as The Heart and Soulfood of Petaluma. Every time its mentioned, Chow Fun (Derek) has a bar-b-gasm about the beef ribs. Picking up a take-out order on Sunday, now I understand why.
The beef ribs are the meatiest and most flavorful ones Ive had. Theyre smoked until the meat just starts to pull from the bone with some chewy firmness remaining, yet the fat is fully rendered. So succulent and not at all dried out, as often happens with beef. The seasonings and smoke ring penetrate all the way through. The mild sauce is slightly sweet and carmelized on the meat. A full order is $11.99 with beans, fries, and veggies, and comes with four huge beef ribs. Two of those make a meal. The ranch beans were nice too, made with meat and thankfully unsweetened.
On Sundays a bbq buffet offers pulled pork, tri-tip, chicken, beef ribs, pork spare ribs, soup, slaw, beans, and corn muffins. Price is $13.99 for adults, $5.99 for 5-12, and $1.99 for under 4. The place was filling up fast with carnivores headed toward the buffet when I left at 6pm.
A couple other things on the menu intrigue: Fresh fish & chips local snapper house breaded, deep fried and crunchy for $8.99 and Veggie latkes with sour cream, $3.50. Can anyone shed any light on these?
