My husband and I discovered Jarnac last night (W. Village).
It's an intimate French restaurant with excellent food.
We started with grilled mission fig salads. I had the striped bass in merlot butter sauce and my husband had the rib eye steak with mushrooms. We ended with a baked apple (Apple Betty?) and ice cream.
This might be an older place for some but it was new to us...and we loved it.
The chef also came out and visited all the tables.
