There's already a thread about the return of Iron Chef in Japan http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/875392 but I wanted to point out the NYC ties of the chefs.
Iron Chef Chinese is Yuji Wakiya, who opened Wakiya in Gramercy to mixed reviews before shutting it down.
Iron Chef French is Yosuke Suga, who was the opening chef at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in the Four Seasons hotel. I think he was also the creator of the famous Le Sucre dessert. He left a few years ago to open other L'Ateliers, but the one in the Four Seasons is no more.
Never went to Wakiya, but I was always a fan of L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, despite their prices.
