Japanese dinner mid-peninsula, kid friendly?

I am seeking recommendations for a dinner place around San Mateo or Burlingame that that fit these parameters:

-I'm entertaining my sister, brother in law and their well behaved 2 year old. The adults are Indian, Japanese and love gourmet food. The toddler is pretty restaurant savvy. 7pm reservation.
-Japanese (other Asian works too like Thai). Sushi and Izakaya go over well with all but open.
-worth visiting, takes reservations, authentic or yummy, $$ or $$$ works (not so much $$$$)
-ideal if not packed (leaves space for high chair)
-nice if not far from walkable areas like DT San Mateo or Burlingame
-reasonable noise level (meeting my sweetie for the first time)

We're coming in from San Francisco, Berkeley (me), and the family is driving up 280/101 from Mountain View, visiting from out of town.

Looked at Izakaya Mai, Sushi Sam and others. I love Kirala in Berkeley and Akiko's off Bush in SF.

Thanks!! Read the other threads but welcome advice for this specific need!
