I was heading to Grand Central to take a look at the holiday gift market this year, and of course knew I'd grab something downstairs for lunch.
I wanted something as far away from a thanksgiving meal that I could think of, found myself in front of Jacques-Imo's and figured, an Oyster Po Boy sounded about right. Ordered that with some dirty rice.
Well, I'm not impressed. First of all, the bread was sort of falling apart. The oysters were mushy, as if they had not been cooked fresh. I did not particularly care for the fact that there were huge pickle slices on it (I don't ever remember pickles on a Po Boy in NOLA) and the was nothing special either. However, the dirty rice was quite tasty, I'll give them that.
Quite a disappointment, every now and then you just need something really different for lunch, and midtown is a tough place to find that. Maybe I expected too much?
