Looking for some suggestions for an Italian place that feels like a neighborhood joint (i.e. not Babbo) but delivers great food too. Piccolo Angolo was on my short list but has no available reservations for when I need a table. My father is visiting and described his ideal Italian place as follows:
My idea of a great Italian restaurant is one where the Mama does the cooking in the kitchen, the Papa pretends to be the head waiter, the buxom daughter runs
the cash register and the prize-fighter son with a flat nose keeps the ''wise guys'' out of the place.
Much obliged to any and all Chowhounders willing to forgo a PC analysis of my father's tongue-in-cheek stereotypes and just name a place that evokes this kind of ambience. Thanks!
