I am looking for a specific recipe. The original source was the 'Cookie and Squares' edition of a cookbook series from the '70s/80's that was produced by a US woman's magazine (Family Circle? Woman's Day?) It wasn't high end and not terribly sturdy and I ended up discarding all but this one-now it is packed up in the other house and I want to bake these cookies NOW!!!!.
The recipe was very simple: it started in a pot on a burner with melted butter and brown sugar to which you added salt, something, something else and quick-cooking oatmeal. Then you patted the whole thing into a 8 inch pan and baked it in the overn.
I have tried to get the proportions and additions right and can't do it. Then I 'googled' every variation I could think of, but all I get are fruit and nut concoctions that just aren't quite right.
