My 21 year old son has just come home from college in Victoria, BC, Canada, where, being bereft of ANY good Mexican food, he developed an avid, almost rabid desire to taste and learn about different regional cuisines. Fortunately he has a job, so an actual driving tour of Mexico isn't on the menu.
Can anyone give us a coherent, once a week representative tour of regional or other distinct varieties of Mexican food? We live in West LA and have already tried Tlapazola, Mariscos Chente, Taqueria Sanchez, and Mi Ranchito. But we're willing and eager to head Downtown (Mama's and Chichen Itza) and to East LA (El Tepayac) on weekends - traffic makes weekdays unworkable.
