innovative & romantic in west burbs

Since moving to the west-of-the-west-burbs in July (from Berkeley, California) I haven't eaten out at a single upscale restaurant because of kids/money. But my 30th bday is coming up and I'd like to have a romantic dinner for two at a restaurant somewhere in the western burbs.

The criteria:
1) It can't be break-the-bank expensive (dinner for 2 for under $150 would be optimal).
2) Cuisine should be innovative. My husband and I both are good cooks and cook every night. So I don't want to go have the bistro standards that we can do well at home. I want something progressive, something fusion-y. I don't want just a big chunk of well-seasoned meat on my plate (not that there's anything wrong with meat....)
3) Adult ambience. It's our one night away from the kids! I don't want to sit next to other peoples' kids.

Can any restaurants fit this list? The last criterion is the least important. I have read the boards but wasn't left with any lasting impressions.
