Some of this info is part of another thread on the Wine board but I thought I would post here for all interested Hounds.
There were 6 in our party. The Inn now offers a 5 course tasting menu ($75 food only, or $100 with wine pairings). 4 out of 6 in our party are less than adventurous (two "no seafoods", one "no meat", and one "meat and potatoes only", need I say more ?????) Maybe next time....
One of the true standouts (and an annual offering) is the Fried Wellfleet Oysters. This is comprised of 4 crispy fried oysters perched on top of creme fraiche, pickled shallots, minced chives, and bacon served in a oyster shell ($13). To me, this is worth the trip to the Inn. I decided to pair this with Domaine Carneros Brut 2003 ($35). It worked according to my palate. Some other starters that were ordered were the Heirloom Tomato Salad ($12), a cheese plate ($15),a lobster salad ($14), and a veal short rib ($13). Another bottle Of Domaine Carneros and a bottle of a varietal called Hondarrabi Zuri from Itsas Mendi in Spain ((2005 @ $25). This is a very nice wine with plenty of fruit (stone fruit I thought) with a clean refreshing finish. We shared an order of ricotta gnocchi for the table ($23 , which I thought was kind of expensive). The gnocchi were sereved with fresh heirloom tomatoes, basil, and parmesan, Very tasty. The entrees were 4 Rib-Eyes ($31, and excellent according to all that ordered), one Striped Bass ($26 and well received), and one Grilled Rabbit with sage butter and Sopressata ($29). This was an excellent rabbit dish, cooked perfectly with many textures that blended well together. A bottle of Stags Leap Petite Syrah was shared ($45). Desserts ranged from a Peach Napoloen, A Chocolate Cake, and Blueberry Pie with one French Press coffee and a Botrytis dessert wine. With a round of pre-dinner cocktails, the total for 6 was $656 (including tax and an automatic 18% gratuity. Service was prompt, well paced, polite, and informative. The tap would have been considerably higher if The Inn had similar wine markups to other restaurants. However, many of their offerings are within 10 - 20% of retail which I appreciate and wish others would adhere to.
