We tried the newly opened "The Inn" in the former Hell's Kitchen space in Minneapolis tonight. I very much like Strip Club Meat and Fish in St. Paul so I was excited to have a restaurant with (at least some? or all?) of the same owners much closer to my house.
Overall, it lived up to my expectations. We tried a bunch of different things and shared among the five of us. A few favorites:
Mussels - my favorite dish of the night. I kept wanting to eat more bread so I could eat more bacon broth. Eventually, I just resorted to the spoon.
Chicken Wings - the sauce involved bitters which somehow brought it all together and the wings were both a bit crispy and tender.
Amuse bouche of carmelized onions and beef broth - so savory and rich. :-)
Chicken - poached in a broth involving bacon and mustard. The chicken was so tender. The sauce by itself was maybe a touch salty, but with the chicken or bread it was delicious!
Potato dumplings - like cream cheese wontons only with potatoes inside, served with carmelized onions and cheese sauce. A bit odd, but very tasty.
I thought the cured meat plate was fine, but pretty standard. The desserts were from Salty Tart and were good to satisfy a craving, but not as interesting as I have had some other places.
I definitely will be back to try some more small plates/entrees and the cocktails. I had beer (Fulton IPA on tap), but I heard good things about the cocktails from my friends.
