An inexpensive and relatively quiet restaurant below 57th...where our book group could discuss A.J. Liebling's "Between Meals?"

A.J. Liebling: fantastic writer about food, specifically French food. His book, "Between Meals," reads like a Chowhound's wet dream.

Us: 20-30 dollar maximum spenders. We usually are happy at Cafe Asean, book chatting...but I'd like to try something different next week, as the book is an orgy of French food. But the restaurant does NOT have to be French..just quiet and delightful. I know this is a tall order.

Because we come from lots of boroughs, and even NJ, it is easiest for us to convene near a 6th Avenue subway stop, and it works best if it's 57th or below.

I know Chowhounds won't let me down.
