INDIAN OASIS, Fresh meadows

Went looking for another Indian place I had heard about but it had dissapeared and or turned into the Indian Oasis. This is on the lovely Horace Harding expressway (LIE Service Rd, east bound)@ 184-22. This is one of the spreading Indian Chinese/Thai places. Started w/ the "Chili Chicken Dry", nice dish, chunks of chicken w/bone in a dry sauce w/slices of chilli and peppers. Nice, but not hot enough for me. Then we split a Penang curry. This was the best version I've had outside of sri pai thai. Though I must admit it still isn't up to the the sri version, which is dry, thick and flavorful. Nontheless, still a good version. Our other main was the Chicken in hot garlic sauce. Sort of deep fried chicken chunk thing w/a tangy sauce ladeled over the dish. No Basmati rice as a side, best beer was Kingfisher. Friendly place and a big change from all the places in the neighborhhod I knew back in the 70's.
