i purchased this cookbook a couple of weeks ago and have been cooking out of it fairly regularly ever since. this book is great! the recipes are simple and easy to follow, the ingredients largely available in a regular supermarket, yet the tastes are delicious and quite authentic! the author of this book, suvir saran, is a well-known chef and cooking teacher in nyc, so perhaps that accounts for the quality of the recipes. all i know is, this is the best indian food i've ever cooked, and my indian home cooking now beats most restaurants. i thought i'd pass the recommendation along since there were a few posts awhile back from folks looking for indian cookbook recommendations.
