Yesterday, 3 of us were looking for a nice place to relax for lunch. We decided to try Il Pescatore Ristorante (3851-17th Ave SW) which recently went into their new location just west of 37th Street on 17th Ave. The restaurant was beautiful (but with slightly over-the-top white tablecloths), and they were jam-packed full from one end of the room to the other (usually a good sign). We didn't have a reservation, but the very friendly maitre d' (in a nice and polite way) managed to find a place for us after a few minutes of adjustments. I ordered the Veal Scallopini, which was delicious. No. 1 Son ordered a Calamari appetizer (tomato sauce) and the Veal Crociara (capers, basil), both of which he declared to be excellent. My partner had an amazing Cioppini Seafood Soup (scallops, shrimp, oysters, clams, calamari, crab) which she said she would be prepared to die for! All of this for $76 before tip. Service was excellent and not at all pretentious. Our 3 lunchtime meals were outstanding. And, yes Virginia, we will go back. Nice to have another decent restaurant in this part of town.
