Every time I go to Il Mee Korean Buffet in Annandale, the staff is so NICE, and I really don't think it's just because I come in pushing a walker. (Sidebar - why are all the servers Korean women, and 99% of the support staff Hispanic men? One of those great universal mysteries, I guess.)
Anyway, there I am on my circuit of the buffet, parking a bowl of those yummy spicy hot noodles on the tray of my walker, and about 5 steps later they slide off upside-down onto the floor. The shame! I really gotta show some responsibility and get some no-slide coating on that thing. Or, of course, stay away from buffets.
Anyway, someone kindly cleans it up right under my feet - I am chagrined and apologetic, but that sort of thing has to happen daily. I decide I won't replace it, probably had enough to eat anyway.
The pleasant surprise - about a minute later, unasked, one of the staff delivers an identical bowl of noodles to my table with a big smile.
These folks are so darned NICE! Makes the whole experience a joy. Well worth a $5 tip on a $10 check.
Of course, it could secretly have been the same noodles I dropped, but ... naaaaah. Unworthy thought. Bad Wayne.
