This may or may not turn out to be a good idea, but the family is gathering in Las Vegas for Mom's 85th birthday on April 21st. Numbers aren't finalized yet, but right now it looks like there will be 10 - 12 of us. Most of us will be staying off the strip at the Hampton Inn - La Tropicana and I don't believe anyone plans on renting a car.
I've never been to Vegas and guess who's in charge of selecting our location for the Friday night birthday dinner?! My goal is to find someplace that would suit a wide-range of food preferences and not completely break the bank. Mom's also somewhat hard of hearing, so I'd like to find someplace with a fairly subdued atmosphere so she can enjoy the conversation. I've read the rave reviews on this site for Rosemary's, but wonder if that would be problematic, given where we're staying. My sister is promoting Todd's Unique Dining, but I've only found a single mention of that on Chowhound; I know it's also way off the strip.
Chowhounds, where in Las Vegas would you take your elderly mother and twelve of your closest relatives to celebrate?
