Went to Ichiro, the new Japanese place on 15th, with some coworkers a while ago. It was really good. The chef used to be the head sushi chef at Ichi Japon, way back when it was good.
I had the hamachi nigiri (very good), spicy scallop hand roll (good but construction failed), and super california maki (california rolls with eel on top: very good).
Pricy, even for downtown Oakland sushi, but since I do not like any of the other sushi places downtown, at least there's somewhere to go!
A coworker had the sashimi plate which looked like a great value.
