Best Hot Dogs in D.C.?

sunshine | Jan 24, 2006 12:30 PM

I was watching a PBS program on hot dogs around america including Gray's Papaya, Papaya King in NY, Pink's in LA, SuperDawg and Portillo's in Chicago, Nathan's in Coney Island, Varsity in Atlanta and Rutt's,a place in NJ that deep-fries (!) their dogs, and I wondered whether there are any great distinctive places in the DC area - say one that has a special mustard or relish or prepares them in a unique manner, or has some other schtick that sets it apart. I've had the dogs at Tonic, Hard Times and Ben's and although they were good, I can't say that they're distinctive. What say you?
