Went to Batifole on Gerrard this Saturday with friends. Everything was very good but the standouts were the horse tartare and beef cheeks with escargots. Since there was a discussion here a while ago about tartare, I thought it was worth mentioning it. The meat was very pleasant, a bit sweet actually, not overly spiced. Came with four different pickled garnishes, and few slices of toasted baguette. The beef cheeks were an appetizer, but quite a generous porton. Meat very tender, in a rich and very robust sauce full of herby spiciness. Delish.

I'm also happy to report that my last few visits there included very good, friendly and competent service. I think the kinks have been worked out, and Batifole is a great neighbourhood restaurant. If only they made their frites thin...
