I stopped by here today for lunch looking for something new. I was reluctant at first because it looks like a typical non-authentic Chinese restaurant. But hey, this is Manhattan, not the Golden Mall in Flushing, so I decided I would settle for the usual Chinese fare.
The menu is huge, and there are 107 lunch specials ranging in prce from $6.50 to $6.95. These come with a choice of soup and a choice of rice.
I ordered the General Tso's Grouper. Now don't go turning up your noses at the thought of eating anything General Tso's style. I already mentioned this isn't the Golden Mall. But if you can't get the real deal during yoru Midtown lunch break, I have to tell you the General Tso's Grouper was incredibly delicious. It came on a small platter with about eight pieces of silver-dollar sized filets, cooked perfectly and crispy on the outside, soft white tender fish on the inside in a spicy orangey General Tso's sauce. It might not have been grouper. It could have been cod. Whatever it was is was great.
The hot and sour soup was very spicy. The egg fried rice had nice big pieces of scrambled egg.
For a grand total of $6.95 plus tax, this was a really great meal.
