Recent query about SF/EB Underground Market reminded me that I have been remiss in posting about the Homegrown Marin Market which occurs monthly on first Saturday at 333 Caledonia in Sausalito.
Setting is a large several-room gallery space with patio in back, so room for a number of indoor booths and outdoor grills. We saw a large number of baked-good vendors (easy venue for them) and some bottled goods like a mango chili sauce and half-sour pickles, both of which I liked. Outdoors had Korean BBQ among others. I made the mistake of going just after eating so only tasted a few. When I return it will be for lunch.
It may well be that no particular item would reach ethereal levels at this semi-pro gathering of chefs, but the clear dedication to the craft and the enjoyment in cooking was a real draw for me. And the many family groups participating made it festive--I mean who can resist the goat cheese when cute 5-year old offers you a taste and says with happy pride that she milked the goats.
