This past saturday we skipped lunch and went to boule for a tasting of few things. Some were great,some not. We had the following:
*caramel cardamom gelato-great as usuall.
*vanilla gelato-very nice with lot's of vanilla beans.
*raspberry rose and saffron mango sorbet-very exotic and flavorful. we tasted lot's of saffron in the saffron mango sorbet. The only problem with the sorbet,the texture is little icy.
*pain aux amandes-We didn't like the very sweet icing and you can skip this one.
*chausson au pomme-was good,but not great.
*fromage blanc danish-We liked this one. It had a light cheese taste in the background.
*kouign amann-we always like this light flaky pastry.
*linzer sable-it tasted ok,but the curst was so soft and the texture was way off.
We got there around 5:40 and the place was almost packed by 6:00. The food for the most part was pretty good,but the service was another story. We felt the service was rushed,cold and careless. As soon as we sat down we got the menu and within a couple of minutes got the bread. We got the artichokes appetizer special. It was braised and had a little caramelized onion on the top. I felt it needed either a touch of lemon or parmesan. I got the Bistecca alla fiorentina and my husband got the lasana verde. The funny thing is they didn't bring me a steak knife!! I asked one of the food runners for one and I guess he didn't speak english. After ten minutes I asked the manager for one and finally I got one. Now,if you pay $38 for steak, the least they could do is provide you with a good steak knife. I felt they either have to slice the steak for you or provide you with a sharper knife. I had a hard time cutting the new york part,but boy was it tasty. I enjoyed the lasagna also. I felt the waitress was too cold and pushy. The only thing she cared about was how much you ordered and that is sad. If they polished their service this palce would be great.
