My fiance's b-day is next week and I want to take her somewhere spectacular. She has a fairly adventurous and refined palate, so I'm trying to figure out which of L.A.'s 'big gun' restaurants to take her to for the tasting menu. FWIW- she enjoyed Sona, but found it a bit contrived, loved Diaghilev, and like Saddle Peak Lodge.
Spago- never been then, and I'm curious. I know this won the 2004 poll, but I tend to shy away from eating in Beverly Hills.
Norman's- City Search had some pretty negative reviews. I'm curious about this place, though.
Right now I'm torn between L'Orangerie and Campanille, but I know I need to go to Spago eventual as some form of foodie pilgrimige. Melisse and Norman's seemed interesting, though.
