We had the loveliest dinner last night at Henry's! Our friends have been promising to take us there for our anniversary for a year... took that long to find a baby sitter, haha. Anyway, we finally made it and I am SO glad.
First of all, 2 of us have food allergies and I have to say that I have never before eaten somewhere SO aware and willing to work with/around those allergies. It was really nice to not have to worry at all about what I was eating! :)
SO. We stuck to the night's specials because they all sounded amazing.
crab cake with peach chutney - 2 of us had that - OMG it was amazing. the crab cake had a lovely crisp crust on the outside, lots of crabmeat and the peach chutney was a perfect accompaniment.
Duck crepe - this was a crepe placed on the plate with duck leg, tomatos and some kind of fruit (we couldn't figure out what, pear? apple?) and a brown sauce. also incredible. the meat fell off the bone and was so succulent.
grilled tomato salad - which i did not try, but there were lots of happy noises from all who did.
2 orders of scorpion fish, I can't remember what that was cooked with but it was delicious
skate with lemon and basil, amazing
Opa with kale and garlic. I'd never had opa before, but i LOVED it. he cooks it rare in the center, it was beautifully spiced, the kale and garlic were great.
Dessert: They had 4 on the menu last night, we ordered one of each and shared. :) They were all amazing.
Cream cheese flan
lemon strawberry shortcake (a lemon cake with lots of strawberries)
chocolate pot de creme
blueberry cobbler - not like any cobbler I'd ever had, it was a thin blueberry cake topped with ice cream and a blueberry sauce. AMAZING. :)
They were busy, but not packed, we sat in a side dining room, which we enjoyed because we were by ourselves. I would like sometime to sit in the main dining room tho because then you can see the action in the kitchen.
The service was great, the place is really lovely. We'll be back!
