Healdsburg Grill

Always wanted to try Healdsburg Grill, which usually features outdoor barbques smoking away in patio area. Now has terrific seasonal display of huge pumpkins, scarecrows, spiders at entrance which made it a perfect stop for late lunch this weekend. Despite a VERY long wait, there was actually a line (20 minutes!! with tables available) because of a VERY ditsy seater---finally got a wonderful outdoor table at the Healdsburg Grill on Plaza (across the street from Healdsburg Hotel). Once seated, college age waiters very sweet and accommodating. Seems to be a local favorite, bar looks to be lunch, afternoon hang out for farmers in area. Most folks on patio late Monday afternoon all knew each other creating a friendly environment. We had cheeseburger (there are many many burger variations on the menu)and steak salad. Burger was huge, just perfect---with a smokey grilled flavor. Lots of (subtle chipotle flavored) fries and small salad. LOVED the steak salad which was huge mound of dressed baby field greens lettuce, marinated mushrooms, large chunks of terrific bleu cheese, carrot slivers, topped with 6 large slices of barbqued steak with crispy crustiness, and good seasoning of fresh garlic. YUMMY!! Menu features lots of good Americana choices (fried chicken, meatloaf, 7 salads, burgers galore)for lunch or dinner, at very reasonable prices, especially if dining al fresco on these autumnal days. Our new favorite Healdsburg hang out and SO MUCH BETTER than the less tasty, pricey Oakville Grocery fare and more casual outdoor dining option than Dry Creek Kitchen. Hopefully next time they will have an efficient hostess.
