hawaiian grindz (food) update

quick notes on recent visits to Shakas and Back Home in Lahaina - two hawaiian restaurants that I frequent from time-to-time....

Shakas -
Menu has been expanded to include Mochiko/Mochi Chicken - a local staple. Their version is quite delish. Chunks of chicken marinated and then pan fried.
Service still friendly and serving sizes large
Lau Lau still too dried for my tastes, lacks the amount of butterfish I normally look for and crave.

Back Home in Lahaina -
Can't beat the ambiance of this place - cool faux-tree in the middle of the restaurant and wall paintings really ensure that this is not a hokey luau themed restaurant
Their Hawaiian Fried Chicken is the star of the menu in my opinion. A recent meal makes me think they have improved on the chicken - this time it was much more crispy. Very good.
Kalbi was a bit dry, but still pretty good.
Mac Salad too starchy - I think they're trying to do a potato and mac salad combo of sorts which results in an odd textured salad
