Actually sold out of NYC subway vending machines for a nickel a bag in the '50s-'60s...there doesn't seem to be much recorded history on these.
But were they ever good! Get down to the bottom of the bag where you could finger up a half-teaspoon residue of salty corn oil grease. Pretty sure they were made in Brooklyn. If there was one, they'd be in a snack food hall-of-fame!
