Harada Japanese Restaurant - Morro Bay

My husband and I had been to Harada in Morro Bay a number of years ago and went back this past weekend.

This is a Japanese restaurant with high quality and authentic food, a nice atmosphere, and one that offers some tables with partial views of the bay.

We had lunch and the sushi lunch special I had was anything but ordinary. There was no typical California roll or iceberg lettuce with mayonnaise dressing. In the black lacquer bento box were four pieces of extremely fresh nigiri sushi (scallop, snapper, tuna, and hamachi) and a piece of tamago (egg) and kamaboko (fish cake). Instead of a clump of white rice there were four small rice balls delicately flavored with sesame seeds and fish flakes. A roll of Napa cabbage had a sweet, nutty dollop of miso on top. Also included were two pieces of shrimp tenpura and three pieces of vegetable tenpura, completely ungreasy. The miso soup was also especially tasty.

I wish there were more Japanese restaurants of this caliber in the San Francisco Bay Area.
