I was less than happy with Paul K

We had dinner at Paul K last night before the symphony. We got stuck in horrendous traffic, way worse than usual, and when we phoned and when we arrived they were very gracious about our late arrival.

But the food and service were less than wonderful. I had the cream tomato soup with fresh white corn. It had the potential to be delicious, but it was barely warm, actually cold around the edges. The duck was beyond salty. If there had been any more time, I'd have sent it back, but it came almost a half hour after the soup, and I really couldn't. The server said the kitchen was "backed up." It seems to me that restaurants in that area have to deal with big rushes around performance times, and therefore the onslaught (usually pre-reserved) shouldn't come as an unmanageable surprise.

My husband had no complaints about his asparagus starter or his lamb entree, but his second drink request arrived just as he was finishing his dinner.

It wasn't truly awful, just indifferent. I honestly felt like I'd torn up a hundred dollar bill, kind of wish we'd gotten a deli sandwich and eaten in the car on the way up.
