Halloween Pizza Lunch - Report - Kinda Long

For those of you who gave me suggestions last week on where to get pizza for our lunch today, thank you.

I finally decided on Abbot's. I liked Frankie & Johnny's but it was very greasy. Also Abbot's was the closest, however, not the cheapest.

I called on Wednesday to explain I would be ordering several large pizza's on Friday (to make arrangements)
and was told just to call early on Friday. I stated that they open at 11:00AM and we wanted the pizza delivered by noon. She said I could call prior to 11:00.

I started calling this morning before 10:30am, no answer serveral times. At 10:45 the phone was answered by a young man who did not speak one word of English. Around 11:00 I reached another young who said I couldn't get any pizza's before 12:30. I tried talking to him but all he would say is, "I just make the pizza's_. I asked him when the regular person would be in and he said 10-15 minutes. At 11:15 he still was the only one there.

At 11:20 a young 'lady' answered. I tried to order and she said, "Oh no, you have to give us advance order (have a ticket, she said) for an order that size. She said she had 30 pizza's in the over (pre-ordered) and no one to deliver but I could pick up the pizza's at 12:30pm. I had 20 hungry people ready to eat at noon!

I explained to her that I did call a couple of days ago and was told just to call this morning. I told her I had been trying since before 10:30 and she said she was there (but obviously did pick up the phone). She said that the person I talked to was probably new and there was nothing she could do. I told her it's their responsibity to train people to give out correct information and would she please allow my order to go in. She refused and while she was nice (not nasty), was not willing to do anything. I hung up.

I called a few pizza places in the area (now 11:30)and they were all busy, of course. I finally found a place that would have the pizza's ready by 12:00 noon. It was Cicero's on Pico/Barrington and I had to pick them up.

I got back to the office about 12:20pm and it all worked out. Actually, the pizza's weren't too bad and it was considerably cheaper than Abbot's. Their pizza's are 2 for 1 (I usually avoid these places as I've always found their pizza's to be inferior) and not a piece was left!! The BBQ chicken had too much sauce, but the Pepperoni/Sausage was very good!

I will NEVER,EVER patronize Abbot's again. Does anyone know the owner's name? I would love to write him a scathing letter about how his staff cost him a $115 order!
