Decided to take-out some sushi from Ichiban - a smallish eatin/takeout restaurant on 8th Ave (between 29th and 30th) that opened in Chelsea a few months ago.
Since it was for two of us we ordered the Maki combination (tuna, eel and california rolls) as well as a shrimp tempura and crunchy yellowtail roll. Not knowing anything about the place, we hoped for the best but had no expectations.
Boy were we surprised! The fish was fresh and overall very good, the rice in the rolls not at all old or starchy and the price ($23.00 with tax) for 5 rolls/20 pieces was definately worth it.
Will definately be going back there again to try their other sushi and sashimi. It's good to find a decent place in a neighborhood that doesn't exactly have a whole lot of good dining options.
