Well, we went just a little over budget and opted to have a halibut dinner at Bayside in Newport Beach. Very well prepared wild mushroom crusted, oven roasted Alaskan Halibut on potato puree and asparagus spears with reisling sauce. Evident flavor, but no sight, of tarragon in the sauce and in the wild mushroom crust. We all had the same thing! But, have enjoyed other entrees before.
One gal mentioned it looked like a small serving, however, it was a thick cut and about 8 oz. Maybe she was right for the budget, and there were only two or three spears of asparagus. I had my fill and let her have the rest of my halibut.
Best surprise (made it even more worth it) was that Greg Vail (formerly of Kilauea) was playing a flute (oh, so nice at the beach) with the regular Thursday piano player, Lynda Roth. Wonderful, easy listening smooth jazz and jazzed up top 40. We opted to have our full dinner in the bar area and enjoyed the music all night.
Exeptional all around, including service.
